Basement Bathroom Remodel on Ridge Road
Transforming Ridge Road Basement Bathrooms With Expert Designs

Customer Goal
The homeowners wanted to take their ugly, outdated basement bathroom and make it clean, usable, and affordable. The shower didn’t work, the space felt neglected, and they didn’t want to overspend.
Their goal was a cost-effective, Home-Depot-grade refresh that would serve two purposes:
- Provide a functional and pleasant bathroom
- Act as a temporary primary bathroom during their upcoming upstairs renovation
Scope of Work
We took this bathroom down to the bones and built it back clean and functional:
Full demo of old shower unit, vanity, toilet, flooring, wall paneling, plumbing, and drop ceiling
Chipped out the concrete floor to remove old lead drains, replaced with modern PVC
Installed all-new supply lines and shutoff valves
New toilet and vanity
New corner shower unit
All-new drywall, tile flooring, lighting, and exhaust fan
Rerouted the exhaust fan to vent properly to the exterior instead of just into the ceiling

- Standard-grade Home Depot-style fixtures selected for cost efficiency
- Corner shower unit with acrylic surround
- Ceramic tile flooring
- Modern but affordable vanity and toilet
- Recessed lighting and bath exhaust system

Challenges & Solutions

Demo Uncertainty:
As with many older bathrooms, we weren’t sure what we’d find upon removal of the shower surround. Fortunately, once demo was complete, the conditions were manageable, and we were able to stick to schedule and scope.

Concrete Work:
Chipping the floor to replace lead drains added effort, but was a necessary long-term upgrade for plumbing safety and performance.

Ventilation Correction:
As with many basement bathrooms, the exhaust fan had never been properly routed—we fixed that by venting it outside the home, eliminating moisture buildup risk.

Client Testimonial – Matt Diamondstone
“Captivate was incredible to work with.
I started a kitchen project in December of 2023, with the idea of a small update to add some cabinets and counters. After seeing what a good job Captivate was doing, I decided to move forward with an entire kitchen reno.
Lou was SO helpful throughout the entire process, from making decisions on appliances to sourcing those appliances, working with me to make sure that my vision could be executed without breaking the bank.
Gary is an incredible carpenter—you can balance a marble on my countertops and it won’t roll anywhere. He was creative, finding solutions to work around imperfections in my near 80-year-old house, and even custom built some shelves and windowsills that added a great flair to the kitchen.
One thing that stands out is how absolutely friendly, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile these guys are. From helping me shovel and salt my driveway and sidewalk, to working around overlapping construction/paint/plumbing/electrical schedules, to just making pleasant conversation and being friendly, they were just so consistently great to work with.
My kitchen looks incredible, and if I ever have to do another home reno project, I’m DEFINITELY coming to these guys.
I really really can’t recommend these guys highly enough. 5/5 for sure.”
