The junk removal business may be straightforward, but it is definitely not easy. The T Maxwell Junk Removal crews have their work cut out for them on a daily basis. On any given day they could be loading up a dumpster with heavy construction debris, chipping away at an insurmountable looking hoarder situation, working in basements with low head room, and much more. I make sure our workday is fun because I naturally have a good spirit, high energy, always joking and smiling, and I only hire people that have that same energy!”

Her clientele is what keeps Taneesha inspired to keep pushing the business forward. “We meet amazing people every single day. These people become family, they refer us to others, they repost us, they see us in the market, in the neighborhood, and we talk, we laugh, we hug. What I enjoy the most is just that – the connection to the people. I meet so many people with so many different stories about life, family history, their journey with good and not so good battles. It’s almost like I can’t even describe the overall feeling. It’s like someone may not remember your name, but they will always remember how you made them feel. It becomes therapeutic for myself and the customers.”

There are big plans on the horizon for T Maxwell Junk Removal. “In junk removal you get to see how many things get wasted. When we help people get rid of unwanted items, we try to take as many of those items as we can to recycling centers, donation centers, and our other partners in and around the area.” Taneesha says that her goal is to eventually get a warehouse where T Maxwell Junk Removal can safely store and restore items so that they can be returned back into community rather than sit in a landfill. “Just because certain items are unwanted by one person, doesn’t mean that they’re not useful to another.”

Taneesha left us with some advice for anybody who may need a little inspiration or motivation right now:

“If there’s anyone reading this and they’re feeling stuck at whatever place in life they are in, trust your God. Trust the universe. All my past experiences have led me to where I am today. There were times I questioned some of my experiences. Looking back, I now know those experiences were part of the process that aligned me with the things I am so passionate about today. So today I encourage you to trust your process. It will all make sense one day!”

There are always different problems to solve, especially in older homes. Even though I’ve been doing this for a few years now, I still learn something new all the time. If you need plumbing work done in your home, DO NOT go with the cheapest quote! Plumbing repairs can seem ‘easy’, so a lot of times you will have people who are unlicensed give you a really cheap quote. In these cases, you’re likely to have to make the repair twice. Skip the hassle and hire a plumber who is licensed and respected. You’re going to want to find a professional that you can trust for years to come!”

Any given day in plumbing can be tough – tight crawlspaces, dark basements, clogged toilets, water leaks, emergency calls, and more! Joe, Anthony, and the guys try to keep it light by poking fun at one another all day. In their spare time, Anthony and Joe enjoy going out on fishing trips, fixing things around the house, and spending time with their family.

Walsh Brothers Electric is our favorite electrical contractor to work with! We can always count on them to get in and get jobs done for us quickly and cleanly, regardless of whether it’s just adding a single new outlet or rewiring an entire house. They’re based out of Aldan and specialize in all things electrical.

Walsh Brothers Electric just celebrated their 5-year anniversary of being in business a few weeks ago. “We both found interest in the trade during high school, and we went on to get our ‘Electrical – Skilled Trade’ degrees from Delaware County Community College” says Alex. Sean says that they gained invaluable experience learning the electrical trade on the job as well as what it takes to run a business while the brothers spent years working for other electrical contractors.

Sean and Alex provide high-quality work for all electrical items such as troubleshooting, indoor lighting, exterior lighting, service upgrades, EV charging stations, whole house generators (Generac), and more! They stay up to date on all of the newest advances in electrical devices so that their customers always have top-of-the-line products.

We asked the Walsh Brothers about their favorite part of their work and if they had any advice for people looking to get any electrical work done in their homes. “We love the effect that our work can have on a home. Even something as simple as adding some new lighting to a living room can make the room feel completely different. Or adding new outlets to places that will make the homeowners daily life much more convenient. If you’re considering any project at home that includes electrical work, PLEASE contact a licensed electrician! Some electrical things might seem really easy on the surface, but you can run into issues very easily, especially with older homes. You don’t want to be stuck in a bad spot if you are DIYing and you definitely don’t want to spend money on hiring somebody who is unlicensed.”

A day in the life of an electrician can range from being in tight crawl spaces to finding dangerous wiring to being up on ladders that are much higher than anything that I’m willing to climb. “We get to see a lot of funny things on the job. They’re kind of funny, kind of dangerous. People do all kinds of ‘creative’ things with the electrical work in their homes, specifically with extension cords. We recently went out to replace the feed for an electrical service for the whole house that was ran with an extension cord wire!”

When they’re not playing with electricity, Sean and Alex love to go fishing. They frequently hit all up and down the coast of New Jersey to go surf fishing as well as fishing from their boat. The brothers also enjoy taking trips with family & friends up to their family’s place in the mountains.

John Bergin Jr. Driveway SealCoating is top tier at what they do! Truth be told, we don’t often have projects that require sealcoating, but we had a few over the summer of 2023. John came highly recommended from a few of our trade partners, and we were used to seeing “BERGIN SEALCOATING” signs on lawns all over the area, so we knew who we were going to call. They specialize in residential and commercial asphalt maintenance throughout all of Delaware County, southern Chester County, the Main Line, and northern New Castle County.

John Bergin Jr Driveway SealCoating has officially been in business since 2019. “I started sealcoating as a side gig a couple years before I officially started the business. I’ve been in the trades in one form or another my whole life. From loading roofs for my father and filling dumpsters with shingles to installing roofing, siding, windows, and doors to full interior remodels. But this little sealcoating side gig eventually turned into a living that left me time for nothing else.”

We asked John about his favorite part of his work and if he could share some of the benefits of getting a driveway sealed. “My goal is to provide an honest, valuable service to my clients. I take a huge amount of pride in what I do, and I make sure that it shows in every single project. If I had to pick a favorite part of my work, it would be that I know that my service is truly improving my client’s property. Sealcoating not only extends the life of your driveway, which can be very expensive to replace, but it also instantly adds curb appeal!”

Sealcoating is a tough job – since asphalt can only be properly sealed under very specific conditions, much of the work is done under the summer sun. “Oftentimes we are sealing 160-degree asphalt without a cloud in the sky. My guys that are out there sealing with me are true friends. Working in those conditions, we have to make sure we keep it light and have a lot of fun on the job… basically, we are just sealing driveways and joking around all day!”

John says that his main motivator is living a life of purpose and meaning. “I deliver the best that I have, every time. The best of myself. This is my purpose. My biggest inspiration is God. I wake every morning and thank him for another opportunity to lace up my boots and be able to be of service to others and to do what I love. I’m able to travel to some of the most beautiful places that God has to offer. Whether it’s a field of wildflowers in Malvern or Chadds Ford or some of the most beautiful farmland in Landenberg. I love that I’m able to add to the beauty in people’s driveways!”

When he’s not working, John can be found at home with his family. “We have a full house for sure. It’s me, my wife, Mary – she’s the best – her grandchildren, Conner and Dylan, 2 rescue dogs, and 3 rescue cats! Conner and Dylan love school, comic books, riding bikes and playing video games. Mary and I are active members of our church and when I have a little bit of free time, I enjoy woodworking, refinishing furniture, and keeping my trucks in top shape!”

ACE Concrete has been handling all of our concrete work over the last few years! Armen and his crew have been out on many of our projects to do sidewalk blocks, curbs, driveway aprons, staircases, patios, and shed pads. Scheduling concrete work can be tricky due to weather, but ACE Concrete always comes through to provide beautiful work and make sure we deliver our projects on time!

ACE has officially been in business for a little over 2 years now and they’ve really niched down on concrete flat work as their specialty. Armen started out his career as a general laborer and has been a concrete finisher for 6 years now ever since an especially hot day in 2018. “I was working as a laborer and got put on a concrete crew. We had an extremely hot July day and the concrete started to get hard fast. The foreman was scared that the job was going to get away from them, so they quickly set me up with some hand tools and gave me brief instructions. I got down and started working. To everyone’s surprise, I was doing pretty well for my first time. Word got back that I helped the guys get out of a jam and they started teaching me more. I kept putting the work in and they made me a concrete finisher by the end of that season.”

A concrete job done by ACE Concrete is a job done right. They take their prep work seriously, they use a quality concrete mix, and they take great pride in the finished product. What Armen enjoys the most about his work is the art of it. He loves doing decorative finishes for his client’s patios and walkways. “It’s like painting a picture to me.”

Armen suggests that if you are looking to get concrete work done that you choose a concrete contractor that you can trust. “Give the contractor an idea of what you want and let the professional be a professional. Take suggestions and try to be flexible. There are things that you ‘can‘ do with concrete, but that doesn’t always mean that it is a good idea. You definitely don’t want to use a contractor that will just say yes and give you exactly what you asked for even if that means that the work will fail quickly.”

Have you ever accidentally stepped in wet concrete? I know I have. The guys at ACE get to see it all the time… “One of the funniest things I’ve seen on the job is one day we were doing an entire street corner in South Philly. We just finished the job up, it was Friday, and everyone was feeling good. The job was completely barricaded off with the exception of a 1.5-foot section. Needless to say, someone on an electric bike went right through that opening and rode through nearly 15 feet of freshly finished concrete. When he realized there was nowhere to go, he just stopped and fell over. The rider was horrified. He picked up his bike, walked away, and we were left with concrete that had tire marks in it as well as his body print. We got the tools out and got back to work. We still joke about that.”

Armen’s biggest inspiration is his dad. “Growing up he always worked hard to provide for us. Today, it’s my duty to do that for my daughter and my fiancée.” When he’s not working, Armen enjoys watching the Flyers, spending quality time with his family, and cooking.

J. Rambo Demolition is our go-to demolition company! We have been working with Jon and his crew for a few years now and we have had nothing short of a great experience every single time. We’ve had them come out for small jobs, such as kitchen backsplash demolition, large jobs, like taking entire houses down to the studs, and everything in between. The one constant is that we can always count on them to get the job done efficiently.

They’ve been in business specializing in demolition and cleanouts for 3 years now and Jon says they’re just scratching the surface of what they’re capable of. Jon has been a demolition specialist for 8 years thanks to a chance encounter that he had with another man who owns his own demolition company. “He offered me great pay and then taught me everything that there is to know about running a demo business.”

J. Rambo Demolition strives for absolute perfection from start to finish on all of their jobs. Jon says that his biggest inspiration in his work and his life is getting to see individuals change their lives for the better.

We asked Jon about his favorite part of his work and if he had any advice for folks who are considering getting work done in their home. “What I enjoy the most about my work is getting to collaborate with the best contractors around. And only hire the best. Good work is not cheap and cheap work is not good!”

Jon also shared an inspiring story with us: “One of my customers has a son that has special needs and works at the zoo. He loves construction and trucks, but due to his disabilities, those activities aren’t a reality for him. After his parents told me this I asked when he would be clocking out from the zoo on his next shift. I showed up an hour before the end of his shift to request a tour and told them I’d like it if that young man gave it. After my tour, I gave him a company hoodie, a t-shirt, and a ride home in the truck… The look on his face… That’s what it’s all about.”

Outside of professionally destroying things for a living, Jon is a gym enthusiast and a men’s life coach. Jon and his wife also foster animals while they are waiting to find their forever homes. They’ve fostered more than 100 animals in the past 10 years!
